History

 

Estevan Fuentes was a Half-blood wizard born in 1985 who attended Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into Pukwudgie House. He was an advocate for Muggles and attended protests and donated money to charities that supported them. He probably would have taken Muggle-Studies as a subject at school due to his interest in them. During a protest of Muggle-born rights, Estevan met Muggle-born Violetta Gutierrez whom he soon dated and married in 2009. She also attended Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, however was sorted into Wampus House and was three years below Estevan.

 

Despite both of their love for Muggles, Estevan and Violetta both became Aurors in order to protect the wizarding community. They believed that the Auror Department needed more supporters of Muggles and Muggle-borns, and they thought they were doing a good deed towards them by doing this. They studied Auror training together and never left each other’s side.

 

In 2011, Estevan and Violetta had their first and only child Juan Fuentes. They planned on having another child in 2014, however died suddenly during an Auror incident, leaving Juan an orphan as both of their parents had already passed, Estevan had no siblings, and Violetta’s younger Muggle sister, Veronica Gutierrez, refused to take him in as she was too scared of magical folk. This instilled some fear in Juan, and despite the fact that his parents advocated for muggles, Juan became a little frightened of them and did not ever want to tell a muggle of his magical ancestry in fear that they would dislike him for it.

 

During Juan’s childhood he visited many foster homes but was never adopted. He attended Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry when he turned 11 and was sorted into Wampus House. Once he turned 18 and made his way out of the foster system and out of school, he began to drink a lot of alcohol and felt like a nobody. He had money given to him from his parent’s will, however he kept it untouched as he wasn’t really sure what to do with it. He spent almost 10 years of his life drinking while crashing in people’s homes when he could and sleeping on the street. He was kicked out of numerous bars, but had made a few friends along the way.

 

In 2039, Juan met a muggle by the name of Alejandra Garcia who was very much a drug addict, and the pair of them became good friends and almost inseparable. Juan made a promise to himself that he would never tell her about his magical ancestry until they drunkenly hooked up and she fell pregnant with his baby. He moved in with her in her dingy muggle apartment in order to help her out. The baby girl, Estella Violetta Fuentes (named after both of Juan’s parents), was born in the bathtub of the apartment. It was this day that Juan revealed to Alejandra that he was a wizard, as he knew that his daughter would also have some magical ability and that she would find out sooner or later. Alejandra was not happy that Juan took so long to tell her, and quickly abandoned them, changing her name and moving to an unknown location. Wizards from the Ministry were able to locate her and Obliviate her, however Juan told them not to tell him where she was.

 

Wanting to start a new life elsewhere, Juan legally immigrated to New Zealand with his daughter and the money that was inherited to him through his parents. He wanted to find a job and turn his life around so he could properly look after her and so picked up a job at the local cafe where he met a regular customer by the name of Jane Renaud. Jane was a French woman that Juan couldn’t help but be attracted to. Jane and Juan married in January 2043, two years after they met. They had a daughter in the following July whom they named Genevieve Annaleah Fuentes. 

 

In 2051, Estella began attending Hogwarts New Zealand and was sorted into Hufflepuff House. Her half-sister Genevieve (more commonly known as Evie) joined her in 2054 and was sorted into Gryffindor House.

In 2055, Juan Fuentes became manager of the Cafe he works at, earning more money to support his two daughters.
